New All OK, old location: how to read both

Published · 2 min read

A new message can coexist with an earlier location. Check each item’s origin and time before treating coordinates as current information.

Feature availability

Instructions for My Safe Circle describe version 2.2, still in development and beta, and not released in app stores. Installed versions may lack the feature; interface and behaviour may change during testing.

Message and point have different times

The 2.2 manual says OK without location does not erase a prior point when retention keeps it available. Message time does not automatically become coordinate time.

Open Circle details

Latest known update opens the latest OK, SOS or live start. One button appears if it includes the latest location too. An older point may have a separate Last known location button: check date and origin.

A concrete case

A contact sends OK without location after sharing from a park. The new OK communicates their signal; the old point does not prove they remain in the park. Read them as separate events.

Ask for the needed information

For meeting, request a voluntary current position or landmark. Do not infer secret movements or a faulty message from old coordinates. Verify the detail online before concluding.

Guides for your next step

To set up a session, read duration and recipients. For update issues, use the screen-off checks. For data after the session, see Stop, consent withdrawal and deletion.

Frequently asked questions

Does every new OK update location?

No. Without attached location, the manual says it does not erase the previous point. Read each point with its own date and origin.

Is the feature already in app stores?

No. This guide describes version 2.2, still in development and beta; it does not promise availability in the published app.

Does a live session guarantee someone will act?

No. Sharing a point does not confirm a contact is watching the map or can respond. Agree separately who will respond.
