Live location on multiple devices: which session?

Published · 2 min read

Using an account on multiple phones requires checking session origin. Read the summary before interpreting a point or changing account consent.

Feature availability

Instructions for My Safe Circle describe version 2.2, still in development and beta, and not released in app stores. Installed versions may lack the feature; interface and behaviour may change during testing.

Account and device differ

The 2.2 manual describes a summary identifying a session started on another device. Do not assume every point came from the phone currently in your hand.

Check origin and time

Open online detail and read person, session status and capture age. For two-device tests, record which started sharing and compare an approved recipient’s view.

Test without assumptions

Start briefly from phone A and check the summary on B. The manual promises no GPS merging, automatic handover or simultaneous sessions. Record the tested build’s behaviour instead of assuming it.

Consent applies across devices

Retention is an account choice. Withdrawal stops live sessions across devices and deletes the service data described in the manual; check server confirmation. It is not a switch for just one phone.

Guides for your next step

To set up a session, read duration and recipients. For update issues, use the screen-off checks. For data after the session, see Stop, consent withdrawal and deletion.

Frequently asked questions

Does withdrawal on one phone affect the others?

Yes. The manual describes account-wide consent and withdrawal stopping the account’s live sessions.

Is the feature already in app stores?

No. This guide describes version 2.2, still in development and beta; it does not promise availability in the published app.

Does a live session guarantee someone will act?

No. Sharing a point does not confirm a contact is watching the map or can respond. Agree separately who will respond.
