My Safe Circle 2.2: live location and recipient outcomes

Published · Updated · 3 min read

Version 2.2 adds a location session you choose to start and more detailed sending results. App Store lists 2.2.0 as released on 5 October 2026. Check availability in your platform’s store: a website update does not update your phone.

Share a journey rather than the whole day

Live sharing is separate from All OK or SOS. Choose duration and approved contacts before confirming; starting after SOS still needs a separate confirmation. The optional message stays unchanged throughout the session. Only the latest point is updated, without continuous route history.

Durations and Free session intervals

Free allows a session up to 15 minutes every 60 minutes from the previous start, even if stopped early. Premium adds 1, 2, 4 and 8 hours. Choose the shortest useful duration for a return journey or meeting, without treating it as a battery, coverage or rescue promise. Follow the setup guide.

Read the time before interpreting the point

An unmoving pin may be a fresh reading in the same place or an old location. Check update age: network, permissions, battery and operating system can interrupt background attempts. Lack of movement alone does not establish an incident.

For current information, use your agreed contact channel. A map does not confirm anyone is monitoring it. The missing-updates guide helps distinguish permissions, connectivity and point age.

Stopping and retaining are different decisions

Stop ends updates but does not withdraw account retention consent. Without permanent retention, the session stays accessible online for up to seven days after it ends; automatic physical deletion can follow later. With consent, latest data may remain until withdrawal, contact removal or account deletion.

Withdraw consent and check deletion

Server-confirmed withdrawal stops live sharing across devices and removes retained snapshots and sessions from the service; remaining deletion pages require Retry. Notifications, replies and local history are separate copies. Read the stopping and deletion guide and privacy notice before choosing.

Per-person outcomes replace an ambiguous total

The receipt shows each recipient’s notification outcome: sent, not sent or unconfirmed. When a person has multiple devices, a successful send to one can be enough for that technical result. The summary is not a list of people who read or are coming to help.

Sent means accepted by the notification service, not confirmation of phone receipt or reading. Check recipients after a partial result and use your backup channel where needed. Before travelling, agree who will check and what to do without connectivity.

Frequently asked questions

Does 2.2 keep location permanently on?

No. Live sharing requires voluntary start, duration and recipients, and ends on Stop or expiry. Retaining latest data is a separate choice.

Is 2.2 still a beta on iPhone?

The official App Store listing checked on 8 October reports 2.2.0 released on 5 October. Check country and platform availability; previews of the new 2.3 interface are separate.

Can I restart Free live sharing immediately after Stop?

The next Free start is available 60 minutes after the previous start, even if stopped before 15 minutes. Stop does not reset that interval; check the app.
