Share live location to meet in a crowd

Published · 2 min read

Nearby map points can still be hard to reach in a crowd. Combine brief sharing with a visible landmark you both recognise.

Feature availability

Instructions for My Safe Circle describe version 2.2, still in development and beta, and not released in app stores. Installed versions may lack the feature; interface and behaviour may change during testing.

Choose a fixed point first

Pick a public entrance, fountain or recognisable sign. Name the approach side. Coordinates alone do not distinguish fences, separate exits or required walking routes.

Who moves and who waits

Agree that one person waits while the other approaches. Chasing each other’s moving points can make meeting harder. A single location from the waiting person may suffice.

Brief sharing with context

If the meeting point changes, share only with participants and add context before starting. The beta session message stays unchanged; communicate later changes through another channel.

If the map does not help

Check capture age, then call or describe a sign. Do not cross restricted areas to reach a pin. Stop after meeting and check confirmation.

Guides for your next step

To set up a session, read duration and recipients. For update issues, use the screen-off checks. For data after the session, see Stop, consent withdrawal and deletion.

Frequently asked questions

Must both people share live?

Not necessarily. If one waits at a recognisable point, naming that place and moving only the other may suffice.

Is the feature already in app stores?

No. This guide describes version 2.2, still in development and beta; it does not promise availability in the published app.

Does a live session guarantee someone will act?

No. Sharing a point does not confirm a contact is watching the map or can respond. Agree separately who will respond.
